Lost Cat

Marilyn,
Could you send out an email to the neighborhood? Last night Curiosity (our indoor cat) went on the front porch and we forgot to check on her and she was left outside all night. We have searched our front of the neighborhood, including going into surrounding backyards. We cannot find her. She has vertigo, and spins in circles a lot. She does not wear a collar, or have a chip. She is 11 years old and weighs about 14 lbs. A photo is attached.
Thanks, Carol Davis & family

Marilyn, Do you get this? I thought it might be worth passing on to the neighborhood email list. thanks, Carol

Subject: HURRICANE SEASON BRINGS NEW IMPORTANCE TO EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

WINTER PARK – A nationally recognized Silver Circle Award and National Merit Award winner – As June 1 marked the official start of hurricane season, the City of Winter Park is encouraging all citizens to go online and sign up to receive free emergency notifications. OUTREACH, the city-owned and operated emergency alert notification system, provides high-speed notification through multiple communication infrastructures including cell phones and loud speakers.
“The City of Winter Park realizes the importance of communication, especially during this upcoming hurricane season, and has brought emergency notification to a higher level,” said Winter Park Mayor David C. Strong. “That is why we are reminding residents about OUTREACH, so they can log on to the city’s Web site and sign up to receive notification when an emergency occurs.”
Features of the OUTREACH system include:

* Combined convenience of electronic technology, such as cell phones, with the proven alerting benefit of outdoor voice and siren devices.
* Recognition of a network, first established by the Federal government to communicate with troops in the field.
* Use of mediums such as landlines, cell phones, e-mail, text messaging, FM radio and pagers, as well as outdoor sirens for those who may not have access to these devices.
* Ability of these outdoor warning sirens to announce voice messages when large groups of people need to be directed to seek shelter or evacuate a venue.

Winter Park Fire Chief Jim White describes OUTREACH as “one of the most interactive and robust community-wide emergency alerting networks in the country.”
To sign up for OUTREACH, simply log on to the city’s official Web site at www.cityofwinterpark.org and click on the OUTREACH button.
